Slurp Reorganisation Reflects Global Priorities In Fine Wines

6th August 2012

Slurp has announced a number of changes in international Fine Wines. From today, new hire James Woodhead becomes Global Head of Fine Wine Sales. Predominantly based in the UK (but dividing his time between London and Hong Kong), James will oversee Slurp’s high net worth private buyers in both regional centres – with Slurp’s UK and Asian fine wine sales teams reporting to him. James joined Slurp recently from Antique Wine Company, where he was a lead salesman with clients in Europe and Asia. Prior to this role, James worked as a trader of financial securities.

Separately, Alex Gonszor has been named Global Head of Fine Wine Trading. Also based in London, Alex will oversee a team of traders whose primary objective is to maintain prices on Slurp’s market leading ‘Wine Trader’ platform for electronic fine wine trading. Alex is a graduate of Slurp’s internal training programme, having joined Slurp as an intern a year ago.

The creation of the new global positions in both sales and trading reflects Slurp’s realisation that wine trading is now a 24/7 global operation with no respect for national, or even continental, boundaries. Slurp now offers WineTrader live prices on all four of its main websites (,, and and the company intends to invest heavily over the next 12 months to offer a new range of sophisticated trading and analysis tools to assist its clients.

Alan Macdonald has left Slurp. We thank Alan very much for his efforts over the past (almost) three years and wish Alan all the very best in his future career.
